Sue is a trained clinician with the Parent Hope Project, a program grounded in Bowen family systems theory. She guides parents through a structured manual- based process that helps them observe their reactions, shift patterns, exacerbate unhelpful interactions and better regulate emotions in relation to their struggling child. Through this collaborative and reflective process of self discovery parents gain confidence to be in relationship with their child, even when their child’s behaviour is challenging, and move from trying to “fix” their child toward fostering greater independence and resilience.

Restoring Parent Confidence is a personalised six-session, manualised program designed to help you step out of the cycle of worry and reactive parenting — and back into the calm, confident and collaborative parent you know you can be. Instead of focusing on changing your child, we focus on what’s within your control: you.
When you change how you respond, something powerful happens.
• Pressure reduces.
• Clarity increases, and;
• New pathways open up for you and your child.
Over the course, we’ll discuss how to:
-
Manage your worry, frustration, and emotional triggers
-
Recognise unhelpful patterns between you and your child
-
Stay calm when things escalate
-
Hold loving but firm boundaries
-
Encourage more responsibility and independence
-
Lead with steadiness instead of fear
Real change takes time — and this program respects that. But even small shifts in how you show up can create lasting ripple effects for your whole family.
Overview of Sessions 1–3: Stepping Back
First, we slow things down so you can actually see what’s happening. You’ll learn to observe the interaction patterns driving your stress, understand the “worry cycle,” and recognise what keeps it going — including the responses that feel helpful but may be making things harder. You’ll begin to see why a calmer, more grounded parent changes everything.
Overview of Sessions 4–6: Stepping Up
With greater awareness comes greater choice. You’ll begin adjusting how you respond — holding clearer, warmer limits, connecting with your child without making every interaction about the problem, and supporting their long-term growth rather than reacting to today’s crisis instead of building for tomorrow.
Between sessions, a dedicated workbook with guided reflections and practical exercises keeps the momentum going — so change happens at home, not just in the room.
Who can attend?
Whether you attend alone or with your co-parent, one person choosing to grow is enough to shift the whole family dynamic. This program is suitable for parents of children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, school refusal, emotional dysregulation, or persistent conflict at home.
The Restoring Parent Confidence program is run on an individual basis so book in at a time that suits you.
