Dr Nikki Johnson
Nikki is an experienced clinical psychologist and the founder and director of The Mind Clinic. She enjoys working with adults of all ages to improve their emotional wellbeing using a developmental and interpersonal framework to enhance awareness, emotional regulation and adaptive behavioural responses. To meet her clients' needs and goals, Nikki uses a combination of evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Treatment approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness techniques for the treatment of life adjustments, grief, anxiety disorders (including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, perfectionism, obsessive-compulsive disorder and phobias) and depressive disorders. For treatment of trauma, including childhood trauma, which is known to contribute to distressing psychological and physical symptoms, an individual’s capacity to form a healthy sense of self, as well as, develop healthy and stable adult relationships, Nikki is trained to deliver Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). Nikki is also qualified to deliver the Circle of Security Parenting Program which is based on the principles of attachment theory. This program can be utilised with parents who have children of any age and can effectively improve family relations and child outcomes.
Nikki has a Master of Clinical Psychology and PhD in Psychology. Her research, focused on parenting, child sleep behaviour and the development of emotion regulation has been published in a number of international peer-reviewed journals.
Nikki holds a clinical psychology endorsement with the Australian Psychology Board and is a full-member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (MACPA) and Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).
Nikki sees clients every Wednesday through to Friday.
