FAQ
A quick guide to starting your journey with The Mind Clinic.
The Mind Clinic has four locations so we usually have availability within a week or two, or sooner via telehealth. When you call The Mind Clinic, our dedicated admin team will discuss your needs and suggest the most suitable psychologist and clinic.
Just yourself! You don't need a referral to make an appointment with any of our psychologists at The Mind Clinic. However, if your GP refers you for psychological treatment through the Medicare Better Access Initiative, you may be eligible for a rebate on up to 10 sessions per calendar year. If the appointment is for a child or adolescent, we ask that parents or carers attend the initial assessment session to assist in developing an effective treatment plan.
The number of sessions required will depend on your goals and presenting issues. Most evidence-based treatments require between 10 and 20 sessions. If you have a history of trauma or complex family dynamics, longer-term treatment may be needed. You and your psychologist will determine the frequency of sessions.
Yes, at The Mind Clinic, we offer appointments via secure video link and face-to-face. If you're feeling unwell, please switch your appointment to telehealth. Psychology fees for telehealth sessions are the same as for face-to-face sessions. To arrange a telehealth session, contact admin on 0402 154 007.
Yes, you can. If you have a GP plan through the Medicare Better Access Initiative, you will initially be eligible for a Medicare rebate on 6 treatment sessions. An additional 4 sessions are available after a GP review (10 in total per calendar year). Alternatively, if you don't meet the criteria for a GP plan or choose to pay privately, you may claim through your private health insurer. We advise you to contact your provider for specific details.
